Can I park my car?

The parking area is an asphalt pad with a paved path to the door. The parking area is large enough for side or rear entry ramp vans.

Can I get through the front door?

There are no stairs between the parking area and the front door. There is an ADA compliant minimal threshold to get through the front door. The front entry has motion sensing lights.

Can I easily maneuver through the house?

  • Most doorways are 34” minimum clearance with lever hardware. The primary suite pocket doors are 32” clearnace with accessible pull handle hardware.

  • Hallways are 46” minimum clearance.

  • The following rooms have open 5’ diameter turning space: mudroom, great room, guest wing hallway, guest bathroom, guest bedroom, and primary bedroom.

  • The house floors are covered with tile or hard wearing vinyl planks, with level transitions between them. The area rugs in the seating area and guest bedroom are low-pile.

Can I turn on the lights?

The house has rocker/paddle light switches throughout the first floor.

Can I use the restroom?

The guest bath is accessible:

  • There is a full 5’ diameter turning space in the bathroom.

  • The toilet is ADA compliant. There are grab bars on the walls to the back and side of the toilet, and space on the side for caregiver access.

  • The sink is wall mounted to ADA specifications.

  • The shower is an open curb-less roll-in shower with multiple grab bars. The faucet controls are located at wheelchair height. In addition to a standard shower head, there is a handheld shower wand to allow for assisted showering. The shower niche is 39” above the floor for storing soaps and shampoo.

  • There are Rifton shower/toilet chairs (M & L) available for use on request.

Can I eat at the dining table?

There is a large table in the dining area that has a leg clearance height of at least 28.5” and space to roll under without hitting table legs.

Can I sleep in the bedroom?

There is a full 5’ diameter turning space in the guest bedroom. A powered lift* supports a queen size bed in the guest bedroom. The bed is able to be elevated to variable heights for transfers or use as an ergonomic changing table.

*Note this is a locked feature, but based on need, a key for the switch can be provided on request.

There is floor clearance under the bed for Hoyer Lift for transfers. A Hoyer Lift can be provided if requested. Guests will need to bring their own slings.

Hooks have been placed in the room at wheelchair height.

Can I use the kitchen?

While not designed to be completely accessible, the kitchen has a 4’ aisle between the rows of cabinets, the microwave and dishes are located in lower cabinets.

Is there space for hanging out?

The kitchen, dining, and living areas are an open concept greatroom with 4’ aisle ways on both sides. The decor is minimalist to help keep pathways clear of obstacles.

Can I get to the loft?

Unfortunately, the only access to the loft is up the alternating tread staircase.

Can I get to the 2nd floor suite?

Unfortunately, the only access to the 2nd floor suite is up the staircase.

Can I get to the deck?

There are 4’ wide slider doors from the interior great room out to the single level deck. While the threshold out to the deck is greater than ADA specifications, portable threshold ramps can be provided if requested.
