We’re a family that loves to go on adventures, and we happen to have a son with cerebral palsy. Over the years, we’ve figured out how to make things work - at home and on vacation. We won’t let a wheelchair get in our way of having fun.
We’ve found the National Parks, special needs camps, and organizations like Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports and New England Disabled Sports (NEDS), and all of us - our son included - have had a blast. So when we decided to look for a place that we could share vacations with others, the White Mountains made the most sense.
If you’ve ever traveled with a wheelchair, you know how difficult it can be to find a place to stay - somewhere you can get through the door without having to traverse up steps, and then possibly up another set of steps to go to bed and somewhere you can actually take a shower without jerry-rigging something or settling for a sponge bath…
We believe a place can be accessible and universally appealing to everyone. That is our dream. And we’re making it happen with the Havarti Haus.
We want to share this place with others, because whether you’re in a wheelchair or not, EVERYONE deserves an adventure vacation! Come to these mountains for the adventure or come for relaxation and respite. Come to the Havarti Haus!
